French-Chinese Conference on Green Chemistry, (FC2GChem) was held in Wuhan, Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 3-4, November 2014. It was one of the activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing a diplomatic relation between China and France. This conference was held by East China Normal University and Huazhong University of Science & Technology. In HUST, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and Institute for Clean and Renewable Energies (ICARE) are the organizing institutions. The chairmen were Prof. Mingyuan He, East China Normal University, Prof. Yanlong Gu, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Prof. Laurent Bonneviot, ENS Lyon, and Prof. Yves Queneau, University of Lyon. The main topics of Wuhan session are biomass and clean energy. The advances in the fields of rational utilization of biomass and the renewable energy were in depth discussed. More than 70 participants come from academy and industry in China and France attended the session of Wuhan, and 20 of them are foreigners. The conference accepted 38 abstracts. All the attendees delivered 16 plenary and invited lectures. In addition, 22 posters were also presented. The plenary lectures were given by Prof. Marc Lemaire, University of Lyon, Prof. Gil Mabilon, IFPEN Lyon, Prof. Haichao Liu, Peking University and Prof. Ye Wang, Xiamen University, respectively. In two days of symposium, the representatives reported the latest research achievements in green chemistry, and had an in-depth talking about the related projects. Mr. Marc Bondiou of the French embassy in China consulate in Wuhan and the director of ICARE in EU Prof. Michel Farine also attended the conference. The conference was supported by many academic institutions and companies. Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and the French embassy consulate in Chinese (Wuhan) gave financial support as well to this event. The conference effectively promoted the communication and contact between universities and research institutes of China and France.
