1. Synthesis and evaluation of new energy materials
This aspect is focused on synthesis of new energy materials, especially fluorinated and polyfluoroalkylated sulfonamides for lithium secondary batteries, including lithium conducting salts, ionic liquid electrolytes, polymer electrolytes, and molten salt electrolytes. Till now, the group has taken one 863 High-Tech Program and five NSFC Programs, published over 100 papers (1200 cited), and obtained 4 authorized patents.
2. Asymmetric catalysis and synthetic methodology
This research aspect mainly focuses on design and synthesis of chiral N-ligands from natural amino acids and camphor, their catalyzed asymmetric aldol reaction, nitroaldol reaction and Michael addition, and synthetic methodology for constructing bioactive carbocyclic and heterocyclic compounds, especially from strained cyclopropane and cyclopropene derivatives. In the past few years, this team has taken four NSFC Programs, and published over 50 papers on Angewandte Chemie International Edition，Organic Letters, Chemical Communications, European Journal of Chemistry, Advanced Synthesis and Catalysis, The Journal of Organic Chemistry, etc.
3. Synthesis of chiral AIE molecules and molecular recognition
The interest for this aspect mainly lies in synthesis of chiral aggregation-induced emission (AIE) organic compounds, especially tetraphenylethylene (TPE) macrocyclic compounds, and their application in chiral recognition and chiral analyses based on AIE effect. This TPE macrocycle can detect the vapor of explosive TNT in air. In the past few years, this team has taken three NSFC Programs, and published over 20 papers on Organic Letters, Chemical Communications, European Journal of Chemistry, The Journal of Organic Chemistry, etc. and 2 authorized patents.
