Institute of Analytical Science

Introduction

Institute of Analytical Science at Huazhong University of Science and Technology is a small dynamic and growing group. Our specific interests span materials, sensors, molecular analysis, separation science; innovations in spectroscopy; Bioanalytical data analysis, and more—anything where the rigour of needing good data to understand a scientific problem is relevant. Some of us focus on techniques and instrumentation and others on applications. We also takes full responsibility for the analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis courses designed for the undergraduate and graduated students. Prof. Zhu Lihua, is appointed as the Institute Director since the Institute was refunded in 2005.

The research team covering 6 pioneering and interdisciplinary research areas, including Optical analysis,Electrochemistry analysis,Chromatographic analysis,Environmental and food analysis,Biological and Medical analysis and Pollution control Chemistry.

Awards

In recent years, Institute of Analytical Science has achieved remarkable results in different areas, winning many awards of various kinds, of which 3 Professors won Huazhong Scholar Prize, 1 professor is supported by Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University and 1 Professor is appointed as the Responsible Professor for Analytical Courses Group of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The Project “Detection and Control of trace environmental carcinogen exposure” led by Professor Zhu Lihua won the National Science Prize of Ministry of Education ( second prize ).

Institute of Analytical Science now has collaborative relationships with more than 10 major research institutions, universities and businesses in the world. On average it invites over 10 overseas researchers to give lectures and communication annually. Besides, it has hosted more than 2 analycital conferences and set up “Organization of Environmental analysis of Hubei Province”— a platform for high-level academic exchanges. The institute also helps enterprises resolve the disturbing problems. It has successfully played the role of a business incubator. The innovation of “Preparation of High Quality Light Calcium Carbonate by Desulfurization Residues” is now widely in use in Wuhan Ion and Steel Cooperation (WISCO). This technology has saved WISCO a large amount of currency totaling RMB¥1.5million.

Join research condition

Candidates should hold at least an Doctor Degree in Chemistry, and demonstrate teaching competence in a relevant area. Priority will be given to candidates with SCI (Level A) Papers.
