On May 15, the 6th Janus Materials Conference was successfully held in Wutongyu Academic Exchange Center of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). Initiated by Prof. Yang Zhenzhong of Tsinghua University in 2015, this conference has been held 5 times in Beijing, which aims to provide an academic exchange platform for scholars to share new thoughts, new technologies and applied researches on Janus materials, thus promoting the development of Janus materials.
This conference is jointly held by the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (HUST), Key Laboratory of Material Chemistry for Energy Conversion and Storage (HUST), and Biomedical and Protective Materials Engineering Research Center of Hubei Province, with Prof. Yang Zhenzhong of Tsinghua University and Prof. Zhu Jintao of HUST as co-chairmen.
Xie Xiaolin, the Vice President of HUST, Zhu Jintao, the Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Zhu Qijun, the Vice Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and Zhao Qiang, the Vice Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering were present at the conference. More than 40 experts and scholars from 31 universities and research institutes including Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, and Institute of Chemistry of Chinese Academy of Sciences were invited. In addition, faculties and postgraduate students from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (HUST) also attended this conference.

The opening ceremony was held by Prof. Liang Fuxin, the general secretary of the conference and associate professor of Tsinghua University. Prof. Xie Xiaolin gave a welcome speech at the opening ceremony and introduced the overview of HUST and the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. Prof. Zhu Jintao, the co-chairmen of the conference and Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering also gave a brief introduction of the research progress and talent cultivation of HUST and the school. At last, Prof. Yang Zhenzhong, the co-chairmen of the conference and professor of Tsinghua University gave an opening speech and expressed his expectations for the successful holding of the conference.
During the sessions, the experts and scholars from universities and institutes all over the country shared their ideas and discussed with each other about the preparation and application of Janus materials in biomedicine, photoelectric device, biomimetic materials, self-drive motor and other related fields. A total of 22 reports were given during this conference.

This conference provides a valuable opportunity for the teachers and students of HUST to exchange and discuss with renowned experts from all over the country about the advanced researches of Janus materials and colloid materials. It will not only improve the scientific research levels in the field of chemistry of HUST, but also promote the exchange and cooperation between universities in related fields.
