New Energy Chemistry and Device Seminar 2022 Successfully Held

On July 11-14, 2022,the New Energy Chemistry and Device Seminar 2022 held by Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) and organized by School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, HUST is successfully held in Wuhan, China in with about 100 on-site and online participants. Prof. Sun Licheng, Fellow of Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences and Chinese Academy of Sciences, Prof. Chen Jianguo, Vice President of HUST and other distinguished guests attended the opening ceremony. Prof. Chen Jiaguo, Vice President of HUST and Prof. Tan Bien, Dean of School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering delivered opening speeches.


Prof. Chen Jianguo mentions in his speech that at the 70th anniversary of HUST and the 40th anniversary of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, this conference provides a high-quality academic exchange platform for experts, scholars and students in the field of new energy chemistry and device, serving as a milestone in HUST’s pursuit of becoming world-class university and enhancing international exchange and cooperation.

Prof. Tan Bien mentions in his speech that this conference is the first meeting held based on the “11 Project” of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, HUST, which aims to show latest global research progress in new energy chemistry and device, and provide a platform to discuss frontier issues in this field. He wishes that this conference will serve as a valuable opportunity to faciliate the future development of the “111 Project”, enhance exchange and cooperation between scholars in China and other countries, and promote the international development of chemistry discipline.

With the theme of Better Energy For Better Life, this conference focuses on key materials and devices of new battery, structure and interface regulation of energy materials, chemical mechanism of energy conversion and storage, and other frontier issues. 32 experts from U.S., Sweden, Australia, Canada, Japan, Korea and China shared their research progress, including Prof. Tang Benzhong, Fellow of Chinese Academy of Sciences and winner of the first prize in China's State Natural Science Award, Prof. Zhao Dongyuan, Fellow of Chinese Academy of Sciences and winner of the first prize in China's State Natural Science Award, Prof. Héctor D. Abruña, Fellow of National Academy of Sciences of U.S., and other 5 fellows of National Academy of Sciences, 10 winners of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and 10 world-renowned scholars.

At the closing ceremony, Mr. Jiang Hongyang, Secretary of the CPC Committee of School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, HUST delivers the closing speech. He says that experts and scholars worldwide had a high-qualiy, high-level and intense academic exchange during the past 3 days. This conference has not only injected a strong impetus into the research of new energy chemistry and devices in the new era, built a bridge for the exchange and cooperation between experts and scholars at home and abroad, but also laid a foundation for the future development of the “111 Project”. Finally, Mr. Jiang Hongyang, on behalf of the School, expressed his sincere thanks to all the supporting units and all the participants.

This conference is held based on the “111 Project” of School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, HUST. Focusing on new energy chemistry and device, it aims to provide a platform for experts, scholars and students worldwide to exchange research progress and discuss academic issues, so as to promote international cooperation and improve research level.


Prof. Gong Yuefa, Vice Dean, Prof. Zhu Qijun, Vice Dean, Prof. Gu Yanlong, Vice Dean, Mr. Nie Hongbo, Deputy Secretary of CPC committee of School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, HUST and other distinguished guests attended the meeting. In the context of normalized epidemic prevention and control, the conference was held online and offline simultaneously, with more than 100 representatives from all over the world (more than 60 on-site participants and more than 40 online participants).
