The applications and basic researches in analytical chemistry are incorporated. Meanwhile, interdisciplinary subjects between analytical chemistry and environment, materials and life science are emphasized. Various analytical techniques including spectrometry, chromatography, electrochemistry and computation are employed to study chemical problems regarding mass and quantity during the researches of environment, materials and life science. Especially some characteristics in analysis of persistent environmental pollutants, degradation process research and miniature instrumental apparatus development are formed.

1) Environmental Analysis and Pollution Control Chemistry:

Considering the specific adsorption, highly sensitive and rapid detection platforms and highly efficient catalytic oxidation systems for environmental hormone, heavy metal ions and toxic organic pollutants are constructed through morphologies modulation of sensing materials and catalysts, as well as surface chemical modification. New methods and techniques are provided for highly effective, specific detection and control of trace environmental priority contaminants.

2) Electrochemical Analysis and Life Chip Technology:

Photoelectrochemical analysis is developed for analysis of organic pollutants and pharmaceuticals. Photoelectrochemical sensing platforms with high sensitivity were constructed by cooperating photoelectrochemical analysis with molecular imprinting, DNA and aptamer. Moreover, Micro total analysis systems were constructed by combining two-photon detection technique with microfluidic chips, which were employed to carry out researches for developing new diagnosis techniques related to human health.

3) Portable Analytical Devices and Supplementary Technology:

A series of high-throughput, multi-residue detection techniques, pre-treatment techniques and devices with high sensitivity, good selectivity and low cost are developed and industrialized. A buoy base COD in-situ monitoring system is developed, by which in-situ, wireless and networking monitoring of the COD of the surface water is realized.
