Major of targeted students:MBBS

Department providing course:School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering

2 Course description and goals

Basic Chemistry courses are core science courses that, in addition to serving as the first step towards an undergraduate medical degree, also lays the foundation for students to pursue more specialized studies in medical field. The overall goal of Basic Chemistry courses is to teach students to think about the properties and behavior of the macroscopic world in terms of the structure and arrangement of the constituent molecules and atoms.

3 Basic contents and requirements

3.1 Attitude:In order to cultivate good medical ethics, the standardized operation habits with rigorous and realistic scientific styles are required.

3.2 Basic theory and knowledge:The comprehensive study and learning of the related theories and applications of various aqueous solutions required for higher medical education (dilute solutions, electrolyte solutions, buffer solutions), the relationship between the structure and properties of matter (atomic structure and element periodic law, covalent bond and intermolecular force), chemical analysis and instrumental analysis (titration analysis method, visible-ultraviolet spectrophotometry), and other chemical knowledge, covering a wide range, concentrated and compact content.

3.3 Basic skills:Autonomous learning ability, scientific experiment methods, training of comprehensive abilities such as hands-on, observation, thinking and expression, helping students develop the habit of independent thinking, inspiring innovative consciousness, and providing more ideas and methods for student in the future professional work.
