Academic Areas: Polymer Chemistry & Materials

Cheng-Mei Liu is the Professor of Polymer Chemistry & Materials at HUST’s School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. His research focuses on efficient use of both renewable and recyclable resources. One of his current projects is about design and synthesis of well-defined phosphorus-containing reactive polymers from PH3 tail gas and their biomedical application. Another ongoing project is of preparing bio-based aliphatic polyamides with intrinsic fire-retardant, bactericidal and other properties from renewable platform compounds, such as furfurylamine and levulic acid.
