From November 4 to 8, 2021, the “4th National Symposium on Organic Porous Materials” hosted by Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan University of Technology and Wuhan University was held in Wuhan.
In the context of normalized epidemic prevention and control, this conference was held online and offline simultaneously. 350 representatives from more than 50 colleges and universities across the country (more than 220 on-site participants and more than 130 online participants) attended the conference. On the morning of November 5th, Yu Jihong, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xie Xiaolin, Vice President of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Jiang Hongyang, Secretary of CPC Committee, Zhu Jintao, Dean, Zhu Qijun, Vice Dean, Zhao Qiang, Vice Dean of School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and other guests attended the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was presided over by Tan Bien, Vice Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and chairman of the conference.
Zhu Jintao delivered an opening speech. He reviewed the development history of organic porous materials, and at the same time proposed that in the face of the new era of "carbon neutrality and carbon peaking", porous materials people should seize opportunities and create transformative innovations. Under the background of normalization of epidemic prevention and control, it is even more necessary to shoulder the responsibility and mission.
The three-day conference set up a total of 1 theme report, 14 conference reports, 43 invited reports, 11 oral reports and 74 poster presentations. Academician Yu Jihong brought a wonderful theme report with the topic of "New Opportunities of Molecular Sieves in Carbon Neutralization", which laid the foundation for the successful holding of this conference.
On the afternoon of November 7, after three days of intense and enthusiastic academic discussions, the 2021 National Symposium on Organic Porous Materials was successfully concluded. The closing ceremony was presided over by Professor Zhang Chun, the member of the conference organization committee. The ten students who won the "Best Poster Award" were first presented with awards. Then the initiator of the conference, Professor Han Baohang, made a summary of the conference and delivered a closing speech and expressed heartfelt thanks to all the people that have worked hard and provided strong support to this conference, and sincere thanks to all representatives who actively cooperated in epidemic prevention and control and made academic contributions in this conference. Finally, Professor Han Baohang announced that the next National Symposium on Organic Porous Materials will be held in Changchun, Jilin Province in 2022, and will be hosted by Northeast Normal University, Jilin University and Jilin Normal University.
The National Symposium on Organic Porous Materials started in 2014, and this biennial national symposium has become one of the important academic conferences in the field of organic porous materials in China. The theme of this symposium is “New Opportunities for Organic Porous Materials in the Era of Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality”. It aims to provide a platform for teachers and students in the field of organic porous materials to exchange academic achievements and discuss scientific issues, so as to promote cooperative development and improve the level of research.
This conference has promoted in-depth exchanges among colleagues in the field of organic porous materials in China, which is conducive to further expanding academic influence, strengthening research capabilities, focusing on scientific issues, and serving national strategies. This conference fully demonstrated the rapid growth of my country's research team in the field of organic porous materials and the improvement of the research level.
